Job Title: Host(ess)

Reports To: RESTAURANT MANAGER

Summary

The primary function of the Host/ Hostess is to assist the Restaurant Manager in providing fast and courteous service to guests. As Host/Hostess you will welcome and seat guests who enter the restaurant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Meet and greet all guests in a professional & courteous manner.
  • Answer calls at podium, ensuring all reservations are accurate.
  • Stock and maintain all items related to shift checklists.
  • Assist in the taking of guest food and/or beverage orders to expedite as necessary.
  • Close out checks as necessary.
  • Replace linens and set tables as necessary.
  • Memorize menu items & daily specials in order to answer questions and make recommendations.
  • Clean and restock all work areas as instructed.
  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in adjusting guest complaints.
  • Attend mandatory meetings & hotel functions.
  • Comply with all company standards and policies, as established in the employee handbook.
  • Report any and all wear and tear of furniture and/or equipment, as well as and safety concerns in your work area, to the General Manager.
  • Other duties as required.

Education And Or Experience

A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); A college degree is preferred or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.

Language Skills

A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); A college degree is preferred or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.

Mathematical Skills

The ability to perform basic mathematical functions: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Safety Policies & Practices

Work Environment & Reasoning Ability

The ability to apply the use of common sense & understanding in order to carry out instructions, whether in written, oral or diagram form. The ability to work in close proximity with others comfortably, while multitasking in a fast paced environment. Must possess conflict resolution skills.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, Associates may need to lift items up to 25 lbs. and spend a length of time on your feet.
