JAMES J. KARAM|President & CEO

James J. Karam is President, CEO, and founder of First Bristol Corporation and provides the leadership and direction for this 35 year old regional Real Estate Development and Management Company. Mr. Karam’s commitment to excellence is evidenced by the successful nature of the company’s varied developments and his recognition for being in the forefront of this ever-changing industry. Mr. Karam is also co-owner of WSAR and WHTB radio stations, serving the Massachusetts Southcoast region.


Mr. Karam’s current and past professional and civic affiliations are extensive. He has devoted many hours to civic and charitable endeavors, especially in the area of public Higher Education, serving for ten years as a Trustee of the UMass Five Campus System and four years as Chairman of its Board. He is currently Chair of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate in Boston, MA. Appointed by Cardinal Sean O’Malley, he was formerly the Chair of the Board of the largest community health care system in New England, Caritas Christi. Actively part of the Mass. Southcoast-Business community, he was a past Co-Chairman of the Southcoast Economic Development partnership and is Chair of the Advisory Board of the Mass. Accelerator for Biomanufacturing (MAB). In the for profit area, Mr. Karam serves on the Board of Directors of Steward Health Care System, a for-profit Boston based hospital system, which is a portfolio company of Cerberus Capital and is Chair of the Board of its offshore captive insurance company, TRACO Ltd.


Mr. Karam is an alumnus of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. In addition, he is also the recipient of numerous awards including: the Fall River Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Citizen” award, the University of Massachusetts “Entrepreneur of the Year” award, an “Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration” from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, an “Honorary Doctorate of Law” from the Southern New England School of Law (now UMass Dartmouth Law School), and Outstanding Trustee Achievement Award from the New England Board of Higher Education.

JAMES M. KARAM|Vice President

James M. Karam (Jamie) is First Bristol Corporation’s Vice President. In this role, Jamie has provided financial and development leadership for more than sixteen years with responsibilities including site selection, contractual negotiations, financing, development, and management of First Bristol’s current and future projects. Jamie has been actively involved in the development and oversight of over two million square feet of office, retail and hotel projects during his tenure at First Bristol. Recent projects include a 350,000 retail development in Fall River, MA and site acquisition and permitting for a 177 room hotel in
Boston, MA.


After graduating from Providence College with a dual concentration in Economics and Finance, Jamie was selected for the Fleet Financial Group’s Financial Analyst Training Program. This intensive program led to a Commercial Real Estate Finance position at Fleet Financial underwriting and managing real estate transactions from $5 million to $125 million in value within all asset classes.


Jamie is active in numerous civic, professional, and charitable organizations. Jamie currently serves as the President of the Fall River Boys and Girls Club, Vice President of the Fall River Office of Economic Development, Board Member of the Massachusetts State College Building Authority, Board Member of Saint Anne’s Hospital as part of the Steward Health Care System, and an incorporator of Bristol County Savings Bank. Previously, Jamie served as Board Member of the Fall River Chamber of Commerce. Jamie is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

JEFFREY T. KARAM|Vice President

Jeffrey T. Karam is First Bristol Corporation’s Vice President. Jeffrey has led First Bristol Corporation’s Hospitality Division since its inception in 2003; growing the portfolio to include 8 hotels and over 800 rooms. Jeffrey oversees all aspects of the hospitality division from site selection and development to the successful day-to-day management of its award winning hotels.


Jeffrey joined First Bristol Corporation in 2003 after graduating from Providence College with a dual major in Finance and Management. Jeffrey currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, a Board Member of the Atlantis Charter School, and Board Member of the Providence Foundation. Previously, Jeffrey served as Chairman of the Atlantis Charter School’s Development & Facilities Committee.

ALYSSA A. KARAM|Asset Manager

Alyssa A. Karam joined First Bristol Corporation in early 2016 and holds the position of Asset Manager. Alyssa oversees First Bristol’s commercial portfolio which includes more than 1,000,000 Square Feet of commercial space.


Alyssa graduated from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business in 2009 with a Bachelors in Business Administration, concentrating in marketing. She spent nearly the next five years maintaining various roles in marketing and business development at Suffolk Construction, one of the largest and most successful privately owned construction companies in the country. Alyssa transitioned into the real estate industry in 2014, taking a position for the Fortune 500 company JLL, where she joined the Integrated Product Services (IPS) team which focused on tenant representation and portfolio management of corporate accounts.


Alyssa is currently a Board Member of the Friends of Greater Fall River and also participates in the Fall River Family Services Association’s Big Friends Little Friends child mentoring program.

EDMOND LANDRY|Vice President, Construction

Edmond T. Landry has held his position as Vice President of Construction at First Bristol Corporation since January of 1987. During these 29+ years with the firm, he has served as the owner’s representative and supervised the design and construction of 10 shopping centers (1.4 million square feet), residential developments, high rise luxury condominiums, and 8 hotel complexes. Edmond has also built and retrofitted office buildings representing 500,000 sf (half comprising of medical office tenants), all of which included tenant development from space design through production of Certificate of Occupancy. Among Edmond’s responsibilities are construction design review for efficiency and constructability, bid negotiations with contractors and construction managers, project supervision for time and cost, requisition review and change order negotiations, project financial status reports and construction contract compliance, as well as contract negotiations with various architects and engineers, as required for project production. Edmond manages First Bristol Corporation’s Construction Management Department, which currently oversees over the $50 million of Hospital, Medical Office Building and Hotel construction projects.


Previous employment responsibilities and experiences included complete turnkey design built projects, construction of numerous nursing home and housing for the elderly HUD and RIHMFC projects also specializing in historic preservation renovation projects. Prior to joining First Bristol Corporation, Edmond was Director of Plant Services at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. While maintaining normal support service operations, his departments constructed temporary space for and moved 42 hospital departments during a $100 million expansion and refurbishing project which included demolition of 5 buildings. Edmond holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Civil Engineering and Construction Management, a Rhode Island School of Design Certificate in Estimating and has taught a number of construction management/supervisory courses at Roger Williams college.

JEFF DAY|Vice President, Hotel Operations

Jeff Day joined First Bristol Corporation in 2016 as Vice President of Hotel Operations with more than 30 years of hospitality leadership. Jeff oversees the day-to-day management of First Bristol’s portfolio of award winning hotels.


Jeff has lead teams of industry professionals in full and focused service hotels, executive conference centers and resort hotel operations. Jeff recently served as a leadership executive and multi-unit operator for a large, national Hospitality Management Company and a mid-sized regional Hospitality Management Company, conducting hotel openings for national brands such as Starwood, Marriott, Hilton and Wyndham in city and suburban locations.


Throughout his career, Jeff has served in a variety of leadership roles such as General Manager, Director of Hotel Operations and Food and Beverage Director for hotel brands such as Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott and Holiday Inn, as well as independent resorts and executive conference centers throughout the eastern seaboard.


Jeff attended Johnson and Wales University and earned his CHA and CFBE certifications from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association, as well as multiple industry related certifications from many national hotel brands. He served as Treasurer for the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association and has been Chairperson for several committees within that organization. He currently serves as advisor to a variety of hospitality related companies and has been instrumental to the startup and operation of successful industry related businesses.

BRIAN SHERMAN|Vice President, Controller

Brian joined First Bristol Corporation in early 2016 as Vice President/Controller with over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate finance and accounting roles. Brian oversees the accounting/finance department and his responsibilities include cash management, treasury, financial reporting, financial controls, and managing the banking and financial relationships. In addition, Brian manages the accounting and reporting systems.


Brian graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with an undergraduate degree in accounting. Brian began his career as an accountant for a large regional commercial real estate developer and property manager. Over time, he developed an interest in accounting systems and application development and recognized an opportunity to gain efficiencies through systems. Brian furthered his interest by earning a master’s degree from Bentley University, majoring in Management Information Systems (MIS). With a strong skill set in both systems and finance, Brian has improved efficiency within orgnazations through implementing financial ERP systems, writing custom applications, and designing and developing financial reporting systems and databases.


Brian is active in coaching youth basketball. Brian also founded a boys AAU basketball program and successfully coached and operated the organization for three years.

BEN GILBERT|Vice President, Construction

Ben Gilbert is a First Bristol Corporation Vice President, Construction. Ben oversees projects from design development and pre-construction through commissioning and closeout while managing all financial, schedule, quality, safety, and legal considerations. In this role Ben manages project stakeholders, designers, consultants and builders to execute projects that ensure the highest return on investment and quality, while minimizing risk.


Ben joined First Bristol in 2016 with over 10 years experience in managing the Design and Construction of commercial projects. Ben holds a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). His experience includes over 600,000 SF of construction within the government, hospitality, institutional, commercial, retail, and residential sectors. Ben’s career has focused on design/build projects and fast track schedules for clients that include the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Customs and Border Protection, Brown University, Providence College, Marriott Hotels, The NY Palace Hotel, CBL Associates, Volkswagen, Boston Land Associates, Altid Group, and many more.

ADAM ASAKLI|Regional Director of Hotel Operations

Adam Asakli is First Bristol Corporation’s Regional Director of Hotel Operations.  In this role, Adam is charged with the oversight of our three Middletown hotels and has been and continues to be instrumental in the development and implementation of First Bristol’s hotel Standard Operating Procedures for our hotel portfolio.


Adam joined First Bristol Corporation in 2014 with over 17 years of hospitality leadership experience.  Throughout his career, Adam has served in a variety of leadership roles such as General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Operations Manager, Sales Manager and Guest Services Manager for hotel brands such as Hilton, Wyndham and Marriott hotels.  Prior to his employment with First Bristol, Adam served as a General Manager for a large, national hospitality management company.
