James M Karam (Jamie) is Co-CEO of First Bristol Corporation & Karam Management Inc. In this role, Jamie has provided company leadership for more than 25 years with responsibilities that include active management of the firm, contractual negotiations, financing, ownership, development, and management of the firm’s various numerous assets and developments. He has been actively involved in the development and oversight of over two and one half million square feet of office, retail and hotel projects during his tenure at First Bristol. Recent projects include the acquisition, permitting, and development of a forty-three-acre mixed use waterfront development with marina in Rhode Island, a fifteen-acre Public/Private partnership mixed use development, and development of a 270-room hotel in Boston, MA.
EXPERIENCE
Jamie is currently active in numerous civic, professional, and charitable organizations. He is Vice Chairman of the Massachusetts State College Building Authority along with Chair of the Board’s Design and Construction Committee, the past President and current Board Member of the Fall River Boys and Girls Club since 2003, Vice President of the Bristol County Economic Development Consultants, Board Member of Saint Anne’s Hospital as part of Brown University Health, Charitable Foundation Board Member & Incorporator of Bristol County Savings Bank, and Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital Board of Governors member. He has previously served as Board Member of the Fall River, Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
EDUCATION
After graduating from Providence College with a dual concentration in Economics and Finance, Jamie was selected for the Fleet Financial Group’s Financial Analyst Training Program. This intensive program led to a Commercial Real Estate Finance position at Fleet Financial entailed underwriting and managing real estate transactions from $5 million to $150 million in value within all asset classes.
